Medical AssistantArlington Foot & Ankle welcomes our newest Medical Assistant, Branco Calizaya. Mr. Calizaya has aspirations to become a podiatrist himself. He is currently completing prerequisite courses and will apply to a podiatric medical college in the near future. He has always had interest in podiatry due to many foot and ankle injuries he suffered while playing soccer as a youth and as a college athlete at VCU. He has fractured both his ankles several times that occurred during soccer matches. He has also had ingrown toe nails that needed treatment as well.

Branco also had a rare foot condition that affected his young adult life; brachymetatarsia. The condition involved a short foot bone called the metatarsal at birth .The foot condition was eventually treated by a podiatrist and was the catalyst for his interest in podiatry.

Branco looks forward to working with our patients and feels that he can effectively communicate with patients drawing from his own experience.
